Analysis Of SDOF Structure



The structure is analyzed using finite element method. All the calculations are carried by Matlab software and presented in the end. Fig. Total maximal Internal forces. Conclusion.

The element is a beam which can be subdivided in four parts for defining the global and local displacements. Using the beam method the displacements are illustrated in Fig.1 and 2. Using this displacements the compatibility and stiffness matrix can be found./
The maximal total displacement in the direction of dynamic load is ???????????????? 1=0.3068 ???????? and ???????????????? 2=−0.026 ???????? .
From the calculation it can be noted that static and dynamic effects are similar in modulus, even though dynamic load is always bigger. The difference is that due to the vibrations, forces due to dynamic load can be both negative and positive. This leads to the conclusion, that static load has a permanent effect giving more influence on the internal forces, while dynamic load gives inconsistent results.
