In May 2016, in the wake of the Mitsubishi emissions scandal, Nissan set the acquisition of a 34% stake in Mitsubishi Motors. Nissan become the largest controlling shareholder of Mitsubishi and turning Mitsubishi into a member of the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Nissan might share some car platforms and jointly develop vehicles with Mitsubishi Motors in the future.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, simply known as a Lancer Evo or just Evo, was sports sedan produced from 1992 to 2016. This car had 10 generations, which all use two litre turbocharged engines and all-wheel drive systems. 10th generation Evo is the last one, Mitsubishi wont produce succesor, becouse company is moving towards eco friendly products from their claims.

Last generation Evo had 2.0 litre inline-4 turbo engine with a five-speed manual transmission. Engine produce 217 kW and  366 N·m. Base model price in Europe was about €34,000. Model was available in various colour. There also was a special edition cars, for example, in UK it was called Lancer Evolution X FQ-400. The main difference between this model and standart version was greater power. It was available in only the Frost White colour priced at £50,000.
