In increased global competition in a retail industry with raising customers, expectation means that growth, or for some company’s survival is difficult. It is no longer sufficient to rely on a past reputation or to be effective in selling a product or service. Organisations need to respond to a quickly changing customers expectation and global environment. Continued success depends on attracting and retaining high-quality individuals who can efficiently respond to this changing environment. That suggests that there can be wrong people; individuals who are a liability rather than an asset because they do not contribute to organisation success and may even harm the organisation.(Bach 2005) Hiring competent people is more important than anything else. It dependents on adequate recruitment and selection procedures, which aim to select the best fitting individuals for the position. The importance of this should be, prioritised because a poor recruitment decision can cost an employer an amount equal to 30 percents of the employee’s first-year wages. (Hacker 1996) This written report aims to evaluate the recruitment and selection a process in Aldi store for a store assistant role from a front manager perspective.

In Aldi, area manager is a direct leader of a store manager as a store manager is a direct leader of remaining store personnel. Any applicant will go through two types of interviews. First, area manager holds one. Aldi does not have a separate HR department to interview candidates. For any of the store, the area manager is the leader in recruitment and selection process.
