There is a belief that printed words in newspapers, books and magazines will be condemned to history, as new technological forms of transmitting news and information are evolving.
Firstly, despite the fact that new technologies are being developed very quickly it
is really difficult or even impossible to guarantee that they will be available for everyone. It is natural that not all the countries have reached the same level in economy or technology. It this case people have not got the same opportunities to use and to involve technical advances in their daily life. According to this fact books have a vantage because they are more or less available for everyone who is really interested. Furthermore, if the government has the purpose to create the educated community, it can do it cheaper and faster using books instead of new technologies. Secondly, the reason of health and comfort still forces to doubt about books’ becoming obsolete. As it is thought, the main books’ rival is a computer. But many researches talk about the effects for people’s health which are caused by time spent in front of computer and, of course, nobody has heard that such harm could be caused by reading books. Scientists are concerned about technological advances. It is said that they could be the cause of getting cancer or other illnesses. In this case everyone who spends much time regularly, for example, in front of computer is at risk to have health’s problems later. Moreover, a computer is much more dangerous for people’s eyes than reading books. It is not the same to read three four hours than to read something on computer screen, play games or watch video.
