IKONOS small (1.83 × 1.57 m), lightweight (817 kg) and compact first commercial satelite. For the first time, the IKONOS satellite was released on September 24, 1999 in California, USA (Vandenberg Air Force Base). IKONOS completed its mission in March 31 ,2015. During his mission, Ikona's satellite made almost 598 thousand. photos that covered more than 400 million km2.

The main advantage of IKON images is the rapid acquisition of very detailed and accurate photos (photos can be made within 1 3 days depending on the territory). Compared to medium sized aerial photographs, the precision of IKONA‘S satellite imagery is almost the same, the coverage area is wider and the information update is very simple and fast.
