To begin with, there is many different types of engines like internal and external combustion engines, non-combusting heat engine, electric motor, pneumatic motor and hydraulic motor. All these motors use similar, same or different systems to work. Internal combustion engine is the most common engine in these days that is why I am going to talk about internal combustion engine systems.

Fuel supply: Fuel is stored in a tank until it is needed, then pumped to a fuel-injection system. Fuel injectors spray fuel into cylinders either at or near openings to the combustion chambers. Fuel injection is more precise, easier to adjust, delivering better efficiency, engine responsiveness and pollution control.
