The importance of freedom of expression in a democratic society.


Freedom of expression as a concept is really wide and embedded into Article 10 of the ECHR. This constitutional freedom includes the right for a person to have his own beliefs, thoughts on certain subjects and to be able to share them at ease.Although, the freedom of expressioncan be andhas to be restricted by public authorities when it is executed by infringing law. Naturaly we stumble across difficulties finding an appropriate amount of freedom one can exercise, and setting a line from where the authoritiescan come into action act to set the balance once again. Becausein a democratic society freedom of expression is very important for the democracy and fundamental as a human right to receive and give information and ideas to others, not only that, finding balance between privacy and freedom of expression persist to be a legal issue and fundamental adjustments are needed in order to maintain human autonomy as well as press freedom, that’s why, freedom of expression is not an absolute right.

Firstly, freedom of expression is very important for the democracy and fundamental as a human right to receive and give information and ideas to others. Implementing this right to our lives, has led us to create platforms that can be accessed by everyone and provide them with information, that contains distinct perspectives on similar topics, educational material, ideas, opinions and etc.
