In this seminar paper I provide information how to transport dangerous goods – in this case paint from Lithuania (Kaunas) to Russia (Veliky Novgorod). This situation can be real life related because both cities are big industrial center to each country and transporting paint from JSC “Dažų cechas“ to Novgorod is possible.

First of all, in this seminar paper we find out what is classification and characteristics of hazardous material according to ADR provided classification. In addition to this, we also look into why paint is considered dangerous and what hazards it can cause, also which class and division it is in.

Moreover, when we find out all about paint hazardousness, we ascertain technical details about transporting paint, such as in what packaging paint can be transported, how should we label paint packaging, in what units we can transport paint, which transportation mode to choose, how to label this transportation vehicle, how to stock paint into vehicle. Also, we discuss what quantity we are carrying and which transportation route is the best according to transportation time and costs.

Finally, in this seminar paper it is discussed all the necessary documentation in need to transport our goods from one point to another, which includes transport documents ( i.e. bill of lading which is usually used as receipt of cargo for shipment and so on), all necessary documents and certificates which proves that vehicle and driver is capable of transporting dangerous shipment and knows how to deal with emergency situations. As well in the end of this seminar paper, it is defined incoterms clause CIP which separates buyer’s and seller’s responsibilities.

The exposure of the human body paints are classified as low risk material, however they cause fire and explosion. Paint is dangerous if inhaled, swallowed, enter the body through the skin. It irritates eyes, respiratory egg-shaped or ellipsoidal, causing itching, can also cause skin dryness or cracking. The danger lies in combustion, nitric oxide, which causes coughing, headaches, vomiting, feeling of fear. More poisoning - thickens pulse, shortness of breath, heart.

CAUSE OF DANGER:• Especially flammable.• Merged with air can cause explosion, especially empty and not completely filled containers inside.• Increase the heat and pressure to present a very high flash point and a big explosion.• The vapor is heavier than air and spreads on the ground.• Vapors can be invisible.• Vapors may stun.• Vapors can irritate the eyes, skin and respiratory egg-shaped or ellipsoidal.• When fire cases decompose, releasing toxic fumes.
