Distribution Channel Length is the number of merchants in the distribution channel. The initial distribution step is always the manufacturer and the last one is the consumer. One or more sales brokers - wholesalers and / or retailers - may interfere with them. They are sometimes referred to as sales or marketing chains. The length of the distribution channel depends essentially on the type of distribution of goods used, either directly or indirectly. The direct distribution of goods is the one where the producer supplies his goods to the consumer himself, and indirectly - when they reach the consumer through sales agents (wholesalers and retailers).
