Lithuania and Poland economic transformation since 1990 and economical interdependence.


Poland is a very important Lithuania trading partner. Lithuania import from Poland 2014 was 2492.5 mln. EUR. Compared with 2009, it increased by 52.2% and it consist of 9.6% of all Lithuania import. According volume of import Poland is in a 3rd place after Germany and republic of Moldova. Lithuania export to Poland 2014 was 2023.6 mln. EUR. Compared with 2009, it increased by 37.3% and it consist of 8.3% of all Lithuania export. Poland is in a 3rd place after Russian and Latvia.

In Lithuania import from Poland dominated detergents and cleaners, phenol resins, polyethylene, monofliament from vinyl chloride polymer, housewares equipment from plastic, babies diapers and swaddle inlays and other sanitary ware, folding boxes of non corrugated paper or carton, rolling products of stainless steel, textile materials and textile ware, ware of stones, gypsum, cement, asbestos mica, ceramics ware, glass and glass ware. In Lithuania export to Poland dominated petroleum production (gasoline, diesel fuel), butan and other liquefied petroleum gas, mineral or chemical fertlizers, women‘s shirts and blouses, women‘s dresses, pants and overalls, men‘s suits of wool, men‘s jackets and sport jackets of synthetic tissue, coniferous rough wood, wood shawing panels, stratified panels.

Poland – Lithuania trade turnover 2014 was 4516.1 mln. EUR. Trade balance in respect of Lithuania is not positive: 486.9 mln. EUR. Compared with 2009 Poland – Lithuania trades turnover increased by 55.7%.

Most of Poland direct investments had for manufacturing (1834.93 mln. EUR. (or about 95.5% all investments – 1781.4 mln. EUR. of this for petroleum and chemistry production), financial cooperation (33.9 mln. EUR), wholesale and retail trade 23.6 mln. EUR)
