Many people don’t ask because a less-than-ideal childhood made them fear rejection and criticism and believe they don’t deserve better. You can overcome fears by doing the OPPOSITE behavior. Continually ask for a better deal and don’t care if they say no. When someone says no it’s not a reflection on you or your value. They’re not thinking of you at all, it’s just a knee-jerk reaction. Negotiating is a game, a sport. It’s not do or die, it’s fun. When you recall that, you’ll stay calm, confident, and cheerful and see more opportunities everywhere.
