Genetic Engineering Essay

Genetic engineering, essay.

If we open the internet browser and search for the definition Genetic engineering we get that Genetic engineering is the process of using recombinant DNA technology to alter the genetic makeup of an organism. This definition might not make any sense to ordinary people and they might not understand what does it mean, so I will try to explain everything.

There are couple main reasons for Genetic engineering. First of them are genetic diseases. Diseases such as diabetes, down syndrome, color blindness can cause some really interfering problems for people in their lives, because of these diseases some people can’t get a proper job, they can’t communicate and be respected by the community and so on. Genes therapy often helps to cure these illnesses or at least lighten their syndroms.

The second important reason for genetic engineering would be ageing. Nobody likes the idea of ageing. Some people even can‘t stand the fact that they are becoming old, their skin wrinkles, their stregth decreases and overall they become insignificant or unwanted to community. Besides, over 30 million people die from age-related deseases. Genetic engineering can provide the opportunity to delay your ageing or even stop it.

Scientists believe that genetically modified humans will be normal in the future, but right now they are afraid of doing it because there are plenty things that could go wrong including possibility of causing severe growth abnormalities or cancer or the genetic mistakes being passed to next generations.
