As an alternative, individuals more often prefers travelling to form their mind due to the fact that it is more effective.

Firstly, travelling provides an opportunity to acquire experience of other cultures and viewpoints peculiarities which can not be imparted in books. Every culture has a different way on facing problems , so when people suffer their problems, they can consume received experience to solve them. However, reading a book only provides imaginative way on how to solve problems.

Furthermore, travelling helps people to discover themselves. That is a great way to determine our possibilities and set our lifegoals or even find our vocations. For instance, it might make you a better person aswell. In foreign country you might perceive new ideas and adapt them in your future life, while reading a book will only form your mind but not your actions.
