Looking at the nutritional facts, we see that there is really no sugar in this drink. It is low in calories only 8 but all from amino acids and are protein calories that aid body’s metabolic process. No fat, but rich in B vitamins. Each of these vitamins perform different functions. Vitamin B5 provides energy to the cells, B12 supports the normal production and functioning of the blood, B6 and B12 maintain the normal state of the nervous system, and B3 is responsible for DNA regeneration and skin health [2]. Potassium helps muscles to contract and for nervous system to work. Sodium maintains proper balance of water and minerals in body and relax muscles. As for the ingredients in this energy drink, they are plentiful, and each has its own effect. Carbonated water is a solvent for other ingredients and essential for physiological processes. 1-Taurine is an amino acid, improves reaction time and concentration. 1-Glutamine aids muscle building. Citric acid helps to produce chemical energy from cells. Adaptogens promotes homeostasis and is a natural stimulus. Ace-K a natural sweetener added for taste. Caffeine is a stimulant and improves endurance. Potassium sorbate is a preservative. Sucralose – artificial sweetener. Niacin is a vitamin and aids synthesis of amino acids and proteins. Pyridoxine HCL – energy production, maintains healthy nervous system, skin and hair. Yellow 5 is a yellow food colouring. Cyanocobalamin is important for growth, cell production, blood formation [3]. After the analysis, it can be stated that XS citrus blast does not contain sugar, the calories in the drink really consist of a lot of protein and vitamins. Most ingredients perform a supportive function throughout the body, providing energy.
Also, we researched one of the most popular energy drinks Red bull. Unlike XS citrus blast energy drink, this one contains sugar, even 27g and the number of calories is also high – 110g. But “Red bull” can be made without sugar, it happens when sugars sucrose and glucose have been replaced by artificial sweeteners [5]. The ingredients of this energy drink are Sucrose and glucose are the simplest sugars, and are the primary “energy’’ in the body.
