Book Description: The Murders In The Rue Morgue
The Murders in the Rue Morgue.
I read a short story called “The Murders in the Rue Morgue" written by Edgar Allan Poe that was published in the year 1841. It has been recognized as the first modern detective story.
A little about the author: Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, editor and a literary critic. He was born on January 19, 1809 Boston and died in Baltimore on October 7, 1849, at the age of 40, the cause of his death is unknown.
Ok enough about the author, and let's start talking about the actual book. This is a short story with a murder mystery theme with the protagonist being Dupin, who sifts through puzzles and clues to unravel the truth and make sense of what most cannot. The narrator is Dupin's friend, not Dupin himself, a move which keeps the reader out of Dupin's head and gives the story a hint of mystery.
