The topic of my talk today is bonds. this presentation presents what ‘bond’ is, features of bonds, their issuers and types of bonds.
1. Supranationals. As we can understand from the title, world organizations or banks can issue bonds to raise money (for example, the World Bank and European Development Bank).
2. Governments. Government can issue government or treasury bonds, to raise money or to finance their operations (for example, Germany, Brazil and Russia).
In different literature I have found different number of bond types, but in this presentation I want to list, to my mind, the most common types of bonds.
Why does an issuer choose to issue bonds – rather than borrow the money directly from a bank?
Many companies, which issue bonds, have also issued stocks (shares). What are differences between stocks and bonds?
