Advantages and Disadvantages of man-made stone and natural. Reference list.

It is unquestionable that different types of stone play an essential role in the construction industry. More specifically, natural and man made stones are the two most popular building materials on the market, but according to Mehra (2020), they are extremely different when it comes to costs, range, maintenance, aesthetics, and overall practicality. Therefore, the question remains: what are the benefits and drawbacks of these differently obtained construction materials?

The pluses of natural stone are obvious. One of the main benefits is a luxury providing, aesthetically pleasing view. In fact, natural stone has been a paragon of wealth for thousands of years. Additionally, those found in living and outdoor spaces, such as limestone or marble make for durable, higher quality finishing elements. Besides, raw stone is unique in shape, colour, and texture, making every design a piece of exclusive art (Zotto, 2019). Now the advantages of man made stone should be taken into account. Firstly, manufactured stone is available in a much wider variety of colours and textures, letting architects fulfil almost every design wish of the homeowner. Another critical benefit of man made stone is cheaper installation. Manufactured stone is lighter, easier to handle, and can be fixed to a greater variety of substrates, therefore, its repetitive methods of installation are quite inexpensive.

All in all, both natural and man made stones possess desirable and some unwanted characteristics.
