Strategies for aging well and maintaining attractive skin were based around healthy lifestyle choices, including good diet, regular exercise, drinking water, regular visits to the hairdresser, and use of skincare products and sun protection (Fig. 1).

Impact of facial aging Respondents believe that anti‐aging skincare should start when women reach their mid‐thirties. But, only 21% of women in the 35–44 years age group and 40% of women over 45 years claimed to use anti‐aging products on a regular basis. Respondents confirmed that the esthetic practitioner plays an important role in advising women on the prevention of facial aging: 43% of all dermatology consultations include advice on how to prevent skin aging, and 38% of consultations include recommendations for skincare products. Previous studies have shown the benefit of professional guidance in enabling esthetic patients to make well‐informed skincare decisions.

Views on minimally invasive cosmetic procedures The Observatory found a high level of awareness of minimally invasive cosmetic procedures with an average familiarity score of 80% across the following commonly used procedures: botulinum toxin injections, dermal fillers, laser and light therapies, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and mesotherapy.
