Why Is Don Quixote’s March Unsuccessful And He’s Called A „wise Madman“?
Why is Don Quixote’s march unsuccessful and he’s called a „wise madman“?
First of all, Don Quixote is called a "wise madman." Probably we can all agree that the line between wisdom and insanity is extremely fragile. I think we’ve met a lot of wise people in our lives, well, and we go crazy sometimes without even thinking of another. Don Quixote recites novels about wandering knights, chooses a more romantic-sounding name, dives into the rusty armor of his ancestors, takes an old mare Rosinant out of the stable and becomes a knight himself. This "Wandering Knight" is a sober-minded, knowledgeable, courageous one, but when he talks about the knight he loses his mind altogether and begins to act like a madman. He has had many adventures and it is only because his crazy imagination turns windmills into giants, a flock of sheep into an army, and a simple girl from the countryside into a real lady.
