The role of radio and television in today's world.

Nowadays people are addicted to communication and are keen to learn about new things. A lot of manufacturers and creators are offering devices and services that could achieve giving the desire of knowledge and communication, but the best ones yet are internet, television and radio. Despite flawless success of internet, the thing I will be talking about are radio and television.

To begin with, It has to be mentioned that the radio plays an essential role in communication today by remaining available when other communication mediums, such as television and Internet, are rendered inaccessible by weather or other interference. For example, during a flood or earthquake, most of the infrastructure are destroyed or compeltely unsuitable to be used. In areas where floods are veracious occurance, having a emergency radio is the first thing written in survival guide. Some states in the USA - North Carolina, Pensylvannia to name a few, even has emergency radio stations for flood cases. It is clear that internet and television could not provide help because of lack of electricity. Besides emergency cases, radio is widely used by commercial airlines, since any other communication simply does not work. As for television - it suggests colossal amount of information, as for example – news. Way bigger amount of people prefer television because it is more attractive then radio. In the USA alone,  household ownership of television sets in the country in 2013 was 99%. Statistic speaks for itself. Even though there are way more tv sets then there are radio sets, most of the channels are overshadowed by so called „Big Four“ – ABC, CBS,NBC and Fox, while there are no one or several major radio stations.
