On April 10th, 1834, a fire broke out in the kitchen of the mansion. In the attic, firefighters came across the slaves. Some of the slaves were in a very bad condition. After the fire, Madame LaLaurie was not found. In early 20th century, the building became an apartment house. Today, LaLaurie’s Mansion is a place of mystery and wonder.


Madame LaLaurie’s public persona showed off her intelligence and grace. But unknown to many, LaLaurie had a cold-blooded dark side.

Some of the slaves were in a very bad condition, with their fingernails pulled out, eyes poked out and holes drilled in their heads, so she could stir their brains with the stick.

After the fire, Madame LaLaurie was not found. But the people, who walked by that house could hear screams of torment and dark shadows lurking on the balconies.

In early 20th century, the building became an apartment house. The paranormal activity picked up soon.
