One of the biggest and most concerning differences between today’s world technology and the one in the story is that we still have a choice of what to use and when. People in the story have a chip installed in their heads.

I would like to talk about related technology that exists in our world today, and its similarity to one of the Aleph implant futures from the story: data mining and data privacy. I will take a broad stand about this concept which transformed our old day warehouses into Big Data centers and created a new challenge on how to manage and benefit from it. Also, I would like to draw a distinctive line on how data privacy is controlled in our modern world considering two opposite approaches: consumer-centered vs corporation-first.
