For example, while travelling, you get to meet people from different backgrounds and learn about different cultures.

On the other hand, there are arguments against gap year. To begin with, gap year can be very expensive. You have to pay for everything – from flights to food and it costs a lot. Moreover, it is hard to keep in touch with your friends. What is more, you risk to waste a lot of valuable time.
