Summer Olympic Games.

The Summer Olympic Games is a worldwide multi-sports event. It is held every 4 years and it takes place in a different city every time. Last time, it was held in London in 2012. It’s reason is to find out the best sportsmen and sportswomen in different sports.

The event gathers the best athletes from all over the world and most of them dedicate years of training to prepare for this event. They have to qualify for the Olympics and that’s where all the nominees face their first opponents. After qualifying for the event, they sometimes spend entire seasons preparing for the Olympic games.

The biggest sports’ event originated from ancient Greece. It’s purpose was to celebrate and honour the gods by presenting them the swiftest and the strongest men in the world compete with each other. The winners used to be awarded with palm branches and adorned with red woolen ribbons around their heads and arms.
