Should students have short holidays throughout the school year?

As my years as a student add up, I see that my holidays are somewhat long. I feel as I am experienced enough to state my opinion and reasons that holidays should be shortened.

First, the most important reason, in my opinion, is that we, students, do not finish all of our subject’s courses. For example, our Lithuanian class teacher every year gives out two textbooks, that are around 400 pages long put together, and every year we do not finish it all thoroughly. All we do is just take the “most” important authors and poems and analyze them, but then we also need to gain the skills of actually writing an essay and using those “main” authors in those aforementioned essays. This, in my opinion, only decreases the time we spend on the other given, the non-mainstream authors, who we could use in the same essays, and who would make our work more interesting and varied. This leads to the given topic, should the longer holidays, like the summer holidays, that initially were shortened, could be shortened some more, we would finish the full course, that is given. In all, I think that this would lead to more knowledge and experience not only for Lithuanian class but for other classes too and which would help us to perform better on exams.
