April 15th, 1942 a young boy named Kenneth Lee Lay was born within the Texas County, Missouri. Lay grew up in poverty and later relocated to Columbia, Missouri where he attended David H. Hickman high school and later the university of Missouri, where he studied economics.

In 1984 Lay became the CEO of Houston fossil fuel Company. Lay who was already an executive for InterNorth took advantage of this new climate and purchased his company Houston fossil fuel and adjusted the name of the corporation to Enron.

After the U.S Congress adopted a series of laws to deregulate the sale of gas within the early 90s, the corporation lost right to work its pipelines. With the assistance of Jeffrey Skilling Enron changed itself into a trader of energy. Skilling also changed the culture of the

corporation to emphasise aggressive trading. The market of the 1990s helped Enron’s ambitions and contributed to its boom.
