Rhythmic gymnastics is Olympic sport in which only women compete. The sport has been dominated by Eastern European countries, especially in Russia and Bulgaria.  Athletes participate in individuals or teams, use one or two apparatus. the performance is combination of dance, gymnastics & acrobatics. Gymnastics use ball, hoop, ribbon, rope, or clubs but they can perform without apparatus, too.

International competitions are split between Juniors under 16 by their year of birth and seniors for women from 16 and over again by the year of birth. Performance continues from one and a half to two and a half minutes. Juniors have to do two choreographies, in a performance while seniors have to do one. Two of your performances have to use music without lyrics. .
