The Refugee Crisis in Europe has been labelled as one of the worst humanitarian crises in our time. Over 9 million Syrians have been forced to flee their homes. Many refugees have sought to resettle in Europe and hope for a better future. Migration confronts the world today with one of its biggest challenges. The influx of refugees is the most important political agenda item since 2015, not least in Europe. Peaceful and decisive measures are needed to resolve armed conflicts and other crises, such as those in Syria, Iraq, Israel / Palestine, Afghanistan, Ukraine, the Philippines, Myanmar, South Sudan, DR Congo, Yemen and Colombia. It is about addressing the root causes: in many cases poor governance, impoverishment, repression, environmental degradation and growing inequality.

Migration is a phenomenon of all times. The special feature of the current migration flow is the movement from the poor third world to the rich West. We can not just stop that. Globalization of the economy and global social communication are the cause of international travel. Given the modern media and transport networks, the context has changed so that government policy must also adapt.

Many people who emigrate are fortunate that they can: with some money, with material and intellectual capacities, it is possible for them to live elsewhere and search for a better life. The people who stay behind and those who have no chance to move are often victims of injustice, hunger, illness, war and terror. It is these large populations in the poorer countries that lag behind and who demand more attention and solidarity.
