People Are Losing The Value Of Face-to-face Communication

People are losing the value of face-to-face communication.

Communication is one of basic human needs, so there is no surprise that over the centuries it has taken many forms. Nevertheless, the recent trend to replace real life connections with digital ones is a subject of considerable concern as the latter is believed to impoverish and even sever human ties. I agree that although more numerous, friendships maintained online are less profound and less satisfying.

On the one hand, modern technologies have made keeping in touch amazingly easy. Long lost relatives can be rediscovered in cyber space with several clicks of a button; friends and family members can be contacted despite the distance. What is more, new acquaintances are easy to find in Facebook groups or via dating apps. Some digital natives have already doubled or tripled their social circles this way and even found their soulmate.
