21st century youth has been concentrated on their physical appearance and the trends they feel obligated to follow more than they have ever been. There is no proven reason why that is, but there are a lot of speculations. The reoccurring one is social media. According to Common sense media teenagers spend a total of 9 hours per day on their phones. The apps they scroll through daily endorse new trends daily and usually the people using them display a perfected image of themselves. It is human nature to conform and teenagers are a perfect example of that. This generation wears their best in accessories and clothing with the aim of being accepted or acknowledged in their peer groupings.
