My talk focuses on the issue of the negative impact of television. At first, I would like to speak about the given chart. A number or people were asked a question “What is the negative impact of television on children?” 95 percent of respondents answered, that it is bad on the eyesight, 80 percent thought, that violence on TV stimulates aggression. 65 percent of the people had an opinion, that kids don’t play outdoors because of television and 60 percent answered, that by watching TV, kids don’t help their parents.

Moving on, I personally don’t watch TV at all. That is for a number of reasons. The first one would be that I usually don’t have time for it, because my priorities at the moment are activities, that I do after school and homework. The second one is that even if I want to watch a movie or a tv show, there’s a 99 percent chance, that I will find it on the internet. Watching movies on a laptop is much easier because I can do it whenever and wherever I want. And also my other family members and I have completely different taste for television so it makes it more difficult for me to watch TV at home.

I would agree with the idea, that parents should advise their children on the choice of TV programmes. If chosen wisely, TV programmes can be not only fun and entertaining, but also educational. Watching English cartoons as child helped me learn English tremendously. On the other hand, parents should take into consideration what his child actually find interesting and then see, if it’s appropriate for their child.
