Children tend to adopt their parents’ lifestyle, including eating habits. Bad parenting example is factually the biggest cause of child obesity in the United States. More than 74% of obese children also have heavily overweight parents, whose Body Mass Index is over 35, while the optimal Body mass Index is 25, and seldom can one see an obese child in an athletic family with correct eating habits. Moreover, children would not be affected by the advertisements so much if they did not watch so much television. This is another issue caused by inappropriate parenting. Parents must assure that the child has enough activities throughout the day, otherwise one will become a couch potato and watch the television, and thus as a result he will be affected by advertisements.
