A lot of rubbish that we dispose of goes straight to landfills. In landfills, they gather for years and trash the environment.
There are several types of landfills: those that contain trash being compressed underground, covered by layers of dirt, and those that contain trash simply put in a pile. Landfills usually have grass and other plants on top of the landfill, even though the soil is littered with rubbish.
Leachate is very toxic to the environment, and it makes many of the unwanted and harmful processes in landfills possible. It is hard to dispose of leachate.
Landfills produce gasses that accelerate global warming and other unwanted processes.
