Distribution by religion: Christians: 53,550,000 (91.2%)          Roman Catholics: 51,435,000 (87.5%) [6]          Orthodox: 940 000 (1.6%) [7]          Protestants: 675 000 (1.1%) (mostly evangelicals and Pentecostals)          Jehovah's Witnesses: 500 000 (0.85%)      Muslims: 1 210 000 (2.1%) [7]      Buddhists: 160 000 (0.3%) [7]      Hindus: 115 000 (0.2%) [7]      Sikhs: 70,000 (0.1%) [8]      Judah, 45 000 (0.1%)      In religion: 3 400 000 (5.8%) It should be noted that only 36.8% Roman Catholic, said active church members themselves. Muslim growth is due to immigration, and only a small percentage of them have Italian citizenship. According to 2005. survey, 74% of the Italian population, we believe that there is a God, 16% believe there is any sort of spirit, or spiritual energy "and 6%" do not believe in any gods, spirits and the spiritual energies (the remaining 4% did not respond).
