The number of individuals being affected by poverty has accelerated in recent years. Even though the problem has been present for ages, nowadays it significantly increased. What are the reasons for this? How can we avert it? In this essay, I will attempt to respond to those questions.

The issue of homelessness is very complex. Factors such as mental health, misfortunes, debts, family problems interweave with each other. Mentally sick people are usually unable to get by. Ironically, people who are not getting by tend to get mentally sick. And that creates the catch-22 situation. Taking into consideration that mental health is frequently a taboo subject, it is not difficult to imagine how challenging the case for those people gets.

Creating job openings is one of the most pivotal steps. In such a case, more shelters could be opened - because of the new staff, and more people would feel safe, have something to eat and a place to sleep.
