English VBE monologue: Studies.

Today I was given a topic about studies. The provided bar chart illustrates the number of male students who were studying STEM courses at Lithuania’s universities every two years from 2012 to 2018. Overall, there is a noticeable contrast between the number of university students each year.

To begin with, the largest amount of males who were pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics was in 2012 which was 8600 people. Two years later the number decreased to 75 hundred. In 2016, choosing the majors became even less popular and the number dropped by 1.3 thousand which ended up in 6200 STEM students. In 2018 the number went up back to the same number as 2014 with 75 hundred.

Generally speaking, It’s clear that the greatest number of male students learning in Lithuanian STEM university classes was back in 2012.

Secondly, it is a male dominant career. Fewer women study and work at STEM, therefore it might be less supportive and attractive to girls.
