Essay on Environment: Air and Water.

Firstly about air. Most of the electricity we use is produced by burning fossil fuels – coal, oil and gas. When these are burnt, they give off carbon dioxide and that contributes to the greenhouse effect. Cars, lorries, factories and power stations also contribute to the greenhouse effect. From the car‘s and lorries exhaust come out the fumes, factories and power stations fill the air with poisonous gases. When these gases mix with water droplets in the clouds they come back to earth as acid rain. Acid rain can cause serious damage to the environment. Several posible solutions for these problems are: to stop burning coal, oil and gas, stop using cars and begin to ride becycles or go on foot, start to use renewable energy sources and many other things. By doing this the air will become fresher and cleaner and there will not be acid rain which makes a lot of damage.

Now about water. Water is the most important thing to people, without water we will die. In the Earth there is no new water just the same water which keeps moving between sea, air and land. Only a tiny amount of the Earth‘s water is fresh water which is under the ground or frozen into ice. Unfortunately, fresh water reserves decrease, because of that we need to save it. People should start to do these things to save the water: use short showers instead of baths, have water-saving showerhead fitted, do not leave the tap running while brushing teeth, fill a sink to wash up instead of leaving the tap running and so on.
