Nowadays the majority of the worlds population has access to the internet. In turn more and more people get accustomed to frequent use of social networks. There many interesting reasons why this is happening. In this essay I am going to present only a few of the reasons, as I obviously cannot list all of them, and explain the various effects that media platforms have on us.

Firstly, social media is one of the best sources of easily digestible and relatable entertainment content. For example, platforms like YouTube, Instagram or TikTok offer thousands of short and funny videos - the perfect combination for people who just want to relax or need to lift their mood after a hard day at work or school. But watching these videos too often can distract people from their responsibilities or have a bad impact on health and the ability to focus.
