People emigrate for a variety of different reasons, students are looking for better education and ways to expand their world view, older people tend to look for higher salaries, better living conditions, job opportunities and stability for their family. Upper class citizens tend so migrate just out of curiosity and need to change their surroundings since money is out of equation, while lower class citizens move abroad for more pratical reason like better living conditions.

Lithuanians choose to emigrate to all kinds of different countries but the most popular destinations seem to be: UK, Ireland, Germany and Norway. And it‘s no surprise, because these countries are very economically strong and immigrant-friendly.

In conclusion, I believe that emigration can only be stopped by making our own country a place where people actually want to stay and build their lives. Right now Lithuania might not be the best place to live, but all countries have their flaws.
