At the beginning and during the period of revolutions, under the influence of the Enlightenment in France, artists are looking for patterns from the past-Ancient Greece and Rome.

The first wide and straight boulevards are being built in Paris. The emphasis was on simplicity and regularity. Distinguishing between the main and rear facades. Palaces such as the Louvre and the Pantheon are being built. French gardens and parks are also being built, characterized by path systems, gazebos and fountains.

The art was formal and did not focus on deeper emotions. It was a celebration of the heroes and their deeds. Emphasis was placed on precise and simple harmony and classical figural composition.
