Sansonnet et. al. [4] submits a basic framework which described the functions expected from chatbots:

Rational Agent: they need to have access to an external base of knowledge and common sense (like via corpora of data) such that it can provide the function of competence and answering user questions. Should store context-specific information (like user’s name). [4]

Embodied Agent: must “provide the function of presence...once regarded as very optional...this function proves to be crucial in the case of ordinary users.” Even the earliest bots got humans names so as satisfy this condition. Today, to create trust with users and give the impression of an embodied agent developers are focused on the use of various language tricks to create personas for chatbots in order. [4]

Chatbots are current hot topic these days and it has been around for the last fifty years. Probably the earliest example was a program called Eliza which was created 1966. Eliza simulated a therapist by using a script to answer to a user’s typed questions with simple pattern matching. In ten years, other chatbots have incorporated more sophisticated techniques to better understand user questions and then submit more relevant and useful responses. [5]

Messaging technology has spread over the past few years and become one of the most used smartphone services. To call these platforms (Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, WeChat and Line) "messaging services" not enough understanding of what they provide. They have evolved to involve functions like payments, booking and order, which another way would require a separate app or website. Therefore, users can buy goods, ask questions or book restaurants or hotels in their favourite messaging app rather than downloading a series of separate apps. [6]

But there is a common problem that must be solved. It can’t accomplish the plan of the customer. Now, chatbots are trained considering the past information available to them. So, most organizations have a chatbot that keeps logs of discussions. Developers make use these logs to analyse what users are trying to ask. With a blend of machine learning tools and models, developers coordinate client research and reply with the best suitable answer.

Chatbots functionality will be determined depends on why he was created. But the most uses for Chatbots are: [7]

Automation of manual processes: Artificial intelligence is quickly automating normal and mechanical cognitive processes. Then leaving more time for innovation. For example, intelligent algorithms can now automate the process of collecting data from different reports and perform an analysis to determine the lucrativeness of a business path.
