Book Review Shatter Me By Tahereh Mafi

Shatter me by Tahereh Mafi book review.
The book begins when our world was dying. The plants were dying, the animals were dying, birds were just a distant memory. A few years ago, an organization called the Re establishment claimed that they could fix things if they were given the power. They divided the world into five areas. This story was set in the North American area, where the Re establishment was not living up to its promises. People were living in squalid conditions with very little food and the Re establishment was mainly concerned with maintaining its own power and killing anyone who rebels or breaks their rules. Seventeen year old, Juliette Ferrars was in a cell. She has been there for 264 days, alone. She has seen no one and spoken to no one. Food came through a slot in the door, once or sometimes twice a day. Once a day her cell opened and she could walk along unlit stone passageways to a toilet and shower. Her mind was breaking down. She repeated things, she counted things, she scribbled her thoughts in a small notebook, then crossed out the bad thoughts. At night, she dreamed of a bird with a golden plumage, flying in the sky. Juliette could inflict intense pain. She was incarcerated after she killed a small boy trying to help him up when he fell. Her parents hated her and wanted to get rid of her.
