Book Review “Oliver Twist“ And “Oliver!“
Book literature review “Oliver Twist“ and “Oliver!“.
“Oliver Twist“ is the second novel written by Charles Dickens. The book tells a story of a young boy called Oliver who tries to overcome many diffucult situations in his life. Oliver is an orphan who lived in workhouse almost all his life, because his mother died right after giving birth to him. He experiences abuse so he decides to run away from everything and after a while he ends up with pickpocket Dodger who connects him with a family of criminals.
The musical is very different than the book. While the whole purpose of the book is to solve Oliver‘s inheritance, in the musical this topic is barely touched. Moreover, some of the most important parts in the book were omitted in the musical, a large piece of the book was just left out. The musical didn‘t left the same feelings as the book did. Reading the book the reader feels angry and sorry for Oliver, because of the way how people treat him.
