The Nightingale and the Rose. Essay.


A young student, is told by a girl that she will dance with him if he brings her a red rose. However, the student doesn’t know where to get the red rose, so he sings in his despair. A nightingale hears his song. For some reason the nightingale decides to help the young man. The bird flies around various rose bushes and seeks the red rose, but none of the bushes provides red roses and the one which does, won’t give a single rose this year.

The nightingale gets told to bleed it’s heart on a white rose to turn it into a red one, which it proceeds to do, in the process the bird dies. The young student finds the rose and brings it to the girl as he promised. The girl rejects the red rose because it won’t match with her dress and tells the boy that it’s silly because someone has already brought jewelry for her.
