Barack Obama "Hope" Poster
Barack Obama "Hope" Poster.
From the medium’s perspective, Fairey choosing the medium of a poster holds a very important role in its popularity. An enormous amount of parodies and imitations of the original poster later were used in both political and artistic environments, to depict either support or detestation of certain agents. In the political environment that the poster was created its popularity can reassure its place as a medium of its own - a stenciled layered poster, depicting a political figure, with a word representing the authors point of view on the politician. From the McLuhanist hot and cold media perspective, this work is ice-cold. Because of it being immersed in the political waters, the perceiver would usually get this poster on the street and most probably would use it to actively present his/hers political beliefs.
