To begin with, it is clear, that the world of business is seamlessly woven into our everyday lives and publishing is no exception. People were, are and will be reading books. Just before presenting Amazon and Kindle the market of publishing was navigated by the 6 great companies: Random House, Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, Penguin, Hachette and Macmillan. They were representatives of traditional publishing and when Jeffrey P. Bezos and Laurence J. Kirshbaum presented the new way of buying and selling books, their monopoly began to collapse. Amazon led a very aggressive pricing strategy, which had significant consequences on other companies stock and income.
